As demand for data-driven decision-making continues to rise across Wisconsin and beyond, the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh is adding a new STEM-designated Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Business Analytics—designed to prepare the next generation of professionals to turn data into action.
The program was presented to the Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents for review and authorization, and is planned to launch in Fall 2026.
Designed in response to industry needs, the MBA in Business Analytics will equip students with technical data skills and a strong foundation in business strategy. The program focuses on helping students analyze complex information and communicate insights that drive real-world decisions.
“UW-Oshkosh’s STEM-designated MBA in Business Analytics reflects our commitment to innovation, workforce readiness and regional economic growth,” said Chancellor Manohar Singh. “This program responds directly to the rising demand for advanced analytical and technology-driven business skills, while creating new opportunities for students to secure meaningful careers in a rapidly changing economy. It also demonstrates the agility of our faculty and staff in bringing forward programs that meet student needs, support employer demand, and strengthen graduate enrollment in high-growth STEM fields.”
Students will engage in hands-on, team-based projects using real-world data, developing solutions to business challenges and presenting their findings in professional settings. The flexible format—combining in-person and online coursework—allows both working professionals and full-time students to advance their careers.
Graduates will be prepared for in-demand roles such as business analyst, financial analyst, marketing analytics specialist, and business intelligence analyst. Demand for these skills continues to grow across the Fox Valley and statewide, particularly in industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, insurance, logistics, and financial services.
As a STEM-designated program, the MBA in Business Analytics may qualify eligible international students for an extended Optional Practical Training (OPT) period.
“This new degree is yet another example of our UWO faculty and staff innovating to meet the needs of our students and the region we serve,” said Edwin Martini, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. “Students completing this program will be able to better integrate business strategy with data-informed decision-making, helping provide the business leadership that Northeast Wisconsin needs and deserves.”
By aligning academic programming with workforce needs, UW-Oshkosh continues to strengthen the regional talent pipeline and support employers seeking data-driven leaders.
